It is essential that our staff are passionate and dedicated to outdoor learning. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn about the benefits of child led play in an outdoor space. Successful candidates will be provided with mentoring from deputy manager and manager to ensure development of our ethos  

Vacancy Description:

-To lead the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage using the Forest School approach as the basis for learning through play.

-Carry out daily risk assessments to ensure children are exposed to appropriate levels of risk and challenge in an environment that is safe as far as necessary.

-Our approach is child-led. Your role is to assist the children in their play and  to problem-solve alongside them, providing them with skills and knowledge in a safe environment.

-Promote and facilitate partnership with parents/carers and other family members.

-Remain up to date with current developments in childcare and education policies and practices and attend the relevant training provided by the setting.

-Operate the highest standards of hygiene in the outdoor nursery.

-Facilitate Ofsted inspections and to implement any recommendations.

-Assist in the preparation and delivery of planning meetings and parents’ meetings and other events.

-Ensure the nutritional needs of the children are met and Food Safety Regulations are complied with.

-Demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion.

-Ensure that children are kept safe at all times.

-Maintain accurate and effective children’s records.

-Be a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families.

-Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals etc.

I have anNVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Children’s care learning and developmentEssential

I have a current and up to date Paediatric first aid certificateDesirable
I have a current and up to date Safeguarding certificateDesirable
I have a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and I have experience planning activities to further children’s knowledge and development.Essential
I have a good knowledge of the legislation relating to working with children and am able to work within policies and procedures relating to this legislation.Essential
I have an understanding of a child-led approach to children’s learning and the value of outdoors experiences.Desirable
I have a good level of knowledge and understanding of the benefits of outdoor learning.Desirable
I have good communication skills both written and verbalEssential
I have an ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, parents and outside agenciesEssential
I have an ability to plan and organise workloadEssential
I have experiences observing children’s development and assessing their progress then planning next steps.Desirable

Hours per week: 30 – 40 hours

Hourly wage: £4.15
